Default Clutch Pedal Engages High

Just got a '00 A4 1.8tqm and the clutch pedal has me a bit worried. The clutch engages and disengages very high on the pedal. I have to let the clutch up almost 3/4s of the way before it will grab. Is this normal? My truck acts nothing like this, but its also a truck, not an audi.

Thanks in advance.

That is normal for audis. Youll get used to it.

Thanks. The seller told me it was normal, but the guy at the emissions place told me i'd need a clutch soon. I guess thats why he does emissions tests and not tranny work. 'preciate it.

Most people will think that is indicative of a clutch needing replacement... even tuner shops are likely to think that way unless they're intimately familiar with Audis.

Ditto here. When I got my 99.5 A4 I thought there was a problem too. That was 60,000 miles ago. Clutch is fine, it's just high.

yea every manufacturer is different. vw/audi are really high on the pedal. my roomies M5 is so close to the floor that if you fart the wheels will spin. but a high pedal is nice once you get used to it
