Default Clutch Slave Cylinder help

Hello,

My name is Rob B and I bought a B5(98 1.8t FWD) a few weeks ago. This is my first Euro car and I'm having nothing but problems with it

my main issue is the Clutch Slave cylinder as i think it needs to be replaced because the pedal has no pressure but if I was the pump the pedal quite a few times it will a bit more pressure. I didnt see any leaks from the cylinder but heard that it might be an internal piston of some sort.

My questions is, is there a HOW-TO(with pics) on the process to change this part? I have found a very short HOW-TO on audidiy but didnt have any pics.

and maybe a HOW-TO on replacing the power steering pump

thanks in advance

This may be the same thing that audidiy has

THIS shows what it looks like with some instructions that may not be useful to you but is what I used when I did my clutch.

THIS just talks about it.

It's a pain in the ***, for sure.

Not sure about a power steering pump diy. It's very rare that people need to do that.

what are you having trouble with? getting to it or actually replacing it? Replacing it is the easy part.

YOu can get to the slave cylinder 2 ways. 1 by sliding under the car, putting your head near the front left tire and then looking up. It is mounted to the top driverside of the transmission housing. The other way is to pull the coolant tank out of the way and look down right at the top of the transmission nearest you.

The slave is only held in place by 1 bolt, remove that bolt and twist it so that tab faces upward. You can then wiggle the slave out of the hole in the transmission housing.

When installing a new one put it in before connecting the hard line.
