My wifes 2001 A4 just gave cel and we took it to the local (non Audi) garage after the engine started knocking for the first couple of seconds at start up. After that it goes away and seems fine. Well the code was P0011 which i'm assuming is the cam tensioner. The cel went away the very next day but it still knocks at start up for the first couple of seconds. Can anyone tell me if this is something that is a costly fix? A job a noob can do or left to dealer? What if it is left go for a while? The car has 90k on it and has been meticulously kept up on maintenance. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and we just had the timing belt and tensioner and water pumpdone at their recommended 90k for preventative maintenance, but i was told that is in the front of the motor and this new knocking problem is at the rear with the chain.Was told by Audi it was 8 hours labor...does this sound right?

Sounds like whoever did your TB change may not have gotten the timing right.
