I was having problems about a month ago with a Cylinder 1 missfire so i moved that coil pack to cylinder two and erased the codes. just last night the engine started stumbling under load in 3rd gear and i got a CEL flashing for a cylinder two missfire, seems like the coil pack is most likely on its way out. for the time being i might get a single coilpack from a junkyard until i am ready to replace all four with the revision E from ECS. But do i need to get a certain kind or are all 1.8T coilpacks the same? The car is a 2001.5.

also just two days ago i noticed a loud squeaking that seemed to be coming from the steering but when i later got out and rocked the car it seemed like it could have been from the front suspension. It sounds like its a rubber bushing or something, any suggestions?

edit: just took a second look at ECS and im realizing that i need to find coilpacks for AWM engine.

I dunno much about the coilpack setup on the 1.8 but the squeak is most likely a control arm, mine did the same thing.

You can blast the ball joints with some grease for a temporary shut up. But yeah, replacing the whole arm is a good idea beacause the control arms have been revised.

Well i made the mistake of having one of my CA's replaced at the dealer, and they managed to stick me for like $450. I got the second one done at a garage down the street from my house and it was like $175. Apparently they aren't too expensive if you can DIY, provided you have a place to do it (which i don't )

blauparts and ecstuning have stockish CA kits. I've also heard of guys getting individual CA's and kits from ebay, but onepoint8tee has heard horror stories of them falling apart so i dunno if i'd go that route.

As far as getting mine done, the first time I paid for the part and the service at the dealer, and paid through the nose for it. The second time i still got molested by the dealer for the CA but the labor at the independent shop wasn't too bad. Next time i'm gonna get the part online (didn't know what i just typed up there ^ at the time i got the work done )
