Default contemplating going bt.

sooo i have had the ko4 in for about a year now and i think i need something more...i've read up on the f.a.q. sticky, i think my goals are like 450hp. so the 2871r seems like it would be the best choice, i know ill have to replace the rods and what not, thats not really a problem i have a fantastic garage that can handle what i cant...id like it to spool up quicker since itll still be a daily driver, so the .63 seems like it would be the best route. im just looking for some input on this idea i've been thinking of.

My input? Do it. Bigger is always better, and if I can't have a BT b5, then I want you to.

do you wanna be making 450 at the wheels? because the gt2871r says its at 450 at the crank so you wont be seeing quite that much. you might wanna run with the gt3071r and since its your daily driver go with the .63 like you were saying. Im no expert but thats my opinion

Crank horsepower means absolutely nothing, I don't know why the Audi community uses it.

Well most Audi owners use chp because thats what the turbos are rated for and those people are trying to figure out what turbo setup to go with to make that power.

Those that use WHP are the ones that have already put their cars on the dyno. lol

For me, if the person says 450hp they mean at the crank/flywheel. Only time I take it as WHP is if they actually put WHP after the numbers.

Yea well, chp doesnt mean anything when comparing 2 different cars. Me being in many different tuner communities (DSM, Mustang, VAG), AudiForums is one of the only spots that uses crank horsepower as their bible. It just bothers me because it doesnt really mean jack ****. What you put to the wheels is what matters, plain and simple. Then we get into powerbands, gearing, and weight.

i dont really think i need 450 to the wheels, i was watching videos on youtube. and once your up into 450 at the wheels those cars are like realllly really built. id like it to be built up a little, the right way by all means but i don't think i want to get into it that much...i really just need help with the turbo its self... like all of the flanges and vband and all of that stuff. anyone know where i can look for one?

I understand that, but the issue is that no A4 owner is going to know what they make at the wheels unless they have actually put their car on the dyno. Plus we both know what the car makes on the dyno doesn't always mean thats what it actually makes at the wheels since every single dyno is going to spit out a different number.

Have to remember most Audi owners are still making stock power or chipped power and they know that power by CHP since thats what Audi and the chip tuners use for their claimed hp/tq.

You know how hard it would be for Audi to sell a $30k 3200 lbs car that only makes 117-132 whp? lol

Buy a kit or package that includes most of the parts you need.

You can start with something like this and then go with your choice of turbo.
