Default Control arm, ball bearing...

Found out yesterday the lower ball bearings in my 99 a4 need to be replaced. The estimate was about 800 total including maintenance...I wan't to take care of this at home. How safe is it to drive with this issue? I am leaving from college and will be doing alot of highway driving, should it be ok?

not that bad, not really noticeable unless you brake slowly while going like 5mph...
