Default Correct Idle Speed?

Hey guys quick little question that im sure will give some interesting answers. Does anyone know how fast the A4 should idle when it is started from cold?

My car, 1.8NA, on a cold start idles at 1200 RPM before dropping to 800 Rpm after around 2 minutes. On a warm start it idles consistently at 800 RPM.

I wonder if this is a built in feature to warm the engine up quickly, or is there a fault somewhere that the ECU compensates for after 2 minutes.

Cheers

Yep, it's the correct idle. My 1.6l idles at 900rpm, but for 1.8 it's 800.

Yeah I was worried about that too when I got my car, I was always use to idling around 600 or so in all my previous cars

dam... mines always between 900-1000 rpm at start-up. It's even at that after running for 20 minutes and then waiting at a red light (e.g. idling).
That's normal too?
Mines is a 1.8t, 1999.5...
