Default Cracked Rim...Any Suggstions?

Hi Guys

I recently found out that my rim was cracked after changing a flat today. So I'm in the market for either a new rim or new rims.

The way I see it, these are my options:
  • I could replace the cracked rim with the spare, since they match, and then buy any old rim or donut to replace the spare.
  • I could try and find another matching rim, but then the good-looking new rim will make the others look worse in comparison.
  • Or I could splurge on a set of new rims, because, while I do like my rims, they've seen better days.

So what would you guys suggest? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money on a new set of rims, but I'm not looking for crap either. I do prefer the stock colored wheels I have now over those black or gunmetal ones. However, rim shopping is very foreign to me and I've already encountered several sketchy sites in hopes to find something. I'm not sure who's reputable and who's not.

Thanks

You can find that rim type on craigslist for $0-80.

I got a set of OEM "sport" rims on cl for free last summer and refinished them using some WURTH silver paint.

Definitely cheaper than buying a new set of rims.

use the spare rim. have the cracked one as a spare, and carry around green slime. when was the last time anyone changed a flat with normal driving, unless they hit a curb while asleep?

You could probably get an OEM+ set up with tires for a pretty decent price on Craigs.

These are priced very well but the style might be to everyone's taste, even needing new rubber $150 is a steal for four wheels. Audi A3 S Line 17" 5 Spoke Wheels - 5x112

I had those same wheels on my old B5 and had good luck finding singles on eBay. If you've already decided on a whole new set, I would suggest OEM or OEM-looking wheels. JM2C
