Custom heat shield with stock airbox?
I've got the stock airbox and plan to keep it that way for awhile considering it is a good design. No cone filter for me.
My question is weather it would be worth it to build a custom heat shield for this setup? I imagine it cant really hurt, but will it make any difference? Anyone do it? Any and all opinions are welcomed.
Thanks.

i think if you made one that attached to the top of the valve cover or something like that it would maybe be a little better, the logic being its closer to the hot side of the turbo and farther away from the airbox. i think if you wanna see real gains, i bet an air filter in the front bumper would be a winner. i know most people on here say that a cai isnt gonna give you any performance gains, but i bet you could squeeze out at least a couple chp's if you but the filter in front of the engine.

thats an interesting idea...hmmm...but I dont want a cone intake or any serious mods.
My thought is that there is a stock heat shield on the air box so there must be a reason for that i.e. heat soaking into the airbox must be an issue under some conditions
but the heat shield is a pathetic looking piece of sheet metal that doesnt even cover the entire box.
I was thinking about making a shield similar to the ones that are used for cone intakes, but I dont know if it will make a difference on my car.
Im not looking for increased hp or anything, I just wantg to keep hot air away from the intake.
