Dead
The day finally came. My trusty 98 a4 died. blown engine rod. I was driving in the rain and looked down at my shifter when i went through a HUGE puddle. My engine shut off half way through. Oddly enough i had broken down right in front of a towing place so i got a quick ride to the garage i go to and my mechanic told me it was shot. It had blown an engine rod. I shead a tear :'(
I wouldnt know about the a6, you should go and search in the a6 forums, they are almost the same cars with almost the same motors cept for the 2.7t. But you should check if its flooded, just take out one of the plugs and look inside.
how the hell are we supposed to know any specifics about a car you gave us no information on? do you know the background on the Hyundai my mother drives?
if you broke a rod on the highway you would know it. there would have been a spectacular noise coming from the engine, sounds kind of like a jake break, as the rod banged around in the engine. you would probably still be able to start the engine again, but the loud banging noise would not go away and the car would run like crap.
unless this puddle was a foot or more deep, or you have a cone filter located down below the bumper, i doubt your filter sucked up enough water to hydro lock. even with the airbox mod.

well i dont think my mechanic is scamming me because he's my friend and it's not like he would get anything out of my engine being ****. and once again i was just asking for general background on the a6 not your mothers car. i do have a cone intake and the puddle was 2 feet deep. There is a hole in the side of the engine. It isn't hydro locked. a piston exploded causing a rod to snap causing my engine to **** itself. It was an old engine it had 230k miles on it so i dont think getting a second opinion would do much for the car anyway
Thanks for input

Correction..... your engine hydro locked causing your rod to bend then break
but if you truelly can see a hole then theres not much to do lol. You are in the a4 b5 forums so a6 question should be handled in the appropriate forum
