did a engine swap need some help please
 

so i had a 01 quattro 1.8t with a blown transmission so i went on the hunt tofind parts for a tranny swap well my friend decided to part his out i got his built engine and tranny and through it in. problem is the engine is slighty older than mine and the engine code is different. it cranks but dosen't start is this because my ecu won't work with the new motor???? if so can i flash mine to it i have a custom tune for my big turbo setup.

nah you need the same ECU as his

so basically i need an ecu with the same engine code and buy another $900 custom tune for my big turbo FUCK ME

That's how it is with these cars. Gotta have all the ducks lined up first. Nissan, GM, and Honda would be possible to swap like this. Not Audi.

That's another option for you. I'm a 2.8 owner so I'm not sure what's available but I've heard about megasquirt.

Why didn't you just swap trannys?

i didn't swap just trannys because mine was the trip and has anybody researched megasquirt for the 1.8t

What year or engine code did he have, and what is yours? If your car is an 06a and his is an 058, then its not so easy.
