Default diode mod problems, concerns...oh Cincy!!!!!!

alright, so i did the diode mod, now for the paranoia..... i set it up for 15psi, spikes at 15, holds 13-14. very happy BUT at first it was boosting at 5, so i adjusted things to to reach 15. its dark here in CT, and about 40 degrees. after my last 'pull' i tweeked to to reach an even 15, and i noticed the turbo was glowing red . i know they are small turbos, and honestly, i have never noticed the turbo glowing red before.......i have never looked, i have always sat in the car for about a minute after my commute to let her cool off (God's honest truth, drives my wife nuts) and just walked in the house. so, do these things glow in stock form? (10psi) i will admit, i am a bit hyper sensitive to these things. i work for volvo, and they have a way bigger turbo, but i have not noticed them ever to glow like this. so, am i ok? or am i gonna shoot an eye out? my main concern is summer heat doing it in. thanks guys

i figured as much, but as i said, i have never noticed before. for what its worth, i can't afford a blown engine, turbo, etc, and would put the $$$ into a chip if this is not a normal deal with these. honestly, i dont really beat on the car, i am on the highway for like an hour a day. this just spooked the hell out of me. its not like the turbo was **BLING** orange, just a dull red/orange...probably enough to light a cigarette

lol my entire exhaust manifold, turbo, and half the TP have been glowing bright red before. totally normal. your exhaust gets around 1300*F. that'll make metal glow real nice.

with the added heat your placing on everything, you just need to let the turbo warm up and cool down properly. but its completely within a safe range

ok, well, after a walk down the internet super highway, it looks like all is well. i bought the car with 49k on it from a dealer. they said that it qualified for the 'audi pre owned certification' which from waht i was told from a tech there, it had to meet super strict criteria. with 95k on it now, i couldnt be happier~ it has been 100% dead nuts reliable, and just want to keep it that way. like i said, i just never noticed the turbo glow before. since the day i owned it, always warmed up and cooled down, not to mention 3k synth, o/c with the diesel rabbit oil filter. i was just like holy s*it. i dont want to push it too hard, and for the time being, 15psi is just fine
