Can someone please help me... I havnt been working on audi's for that long i just bought one and went from there... someone told me that the diverter valve and blowoff valve is the same thing... someone showed me what they "THOUGHT" was the blowoff valve/diverter valve because they said it was the same... the guy before me said he replaced the diverter valve with "Stratmosphere diverter valve(better than cheap plastic stock one) " but what i was told was the diverter valve still says BOCSH on it...

thats a hybrid valve, but you can make it a BOV. what year a4 do you have? if you have an AEB the dv is tucked away under the TIP, just follow the connection from the TIP and it'll lead you right to it https://www.audiforums.com/m_732016/tm.htm If you have a 00+, it should be right next to the turbo outlet hose right before the intercooler hose. (its labeled bypass valve)

if your going to be running the splitter as a BOV, your going to have to get a 1" billet plug and plug the TIP, then just stick the BOV in the outlet hose and remove the recirc hose

thanks alot i got a 99.5 1.8t but is the blowoff valve and diverter valve the same?? and it gave me 2 options on the splitter to use http://www.mjmautohaus.com/images/1/USASPLTR.pdfso what your saying is i want to use the atmospheric way right?
Thanks

no a diverter valve recirculates the air back into the TIP, whereas a blow-off vents to atmosphere. they are still technically the same part tho. good thing about the valve you got is it's a hybrid. It can be turned into a DV, a BOV, or both (mainly a DV and only venting 10% of the air)
if you want the loudest one, then yeah you want the atmospheric way. just unscrew the recirc side of the Splitter, and screw in one of those block off plates they include. then just stick the splitter in the turbo outlet hose. since you have an AEB the dv is gona be located higher up in the engine bay closer to the TIP, and then have a hose running down to the outlet hose. just remove that hose completely, stick the Splitter in the outlet hose and then use a 1" plug to plug the hole in the TIP. should make it much easier to access since it'll be at the bottom of the engine bay.

yeah the link i posted is where it'll be the first time. kind of a pain to get at, but when you put the splitter on it'll be where it is in the picture i posted above, it's a much more accessible spot

I read that you can't use a BOV on a pre-99.5 car without it running rich? Is this true? What DV would you recommend?
I'm running a Forge 004 on my 98 A4. Haven't VAG'd recently, but judging on how black my shiny Magnaflow tips are.. I'd say I'm running a little bit rich.. no codes yet though and the car still pulls just as strong. ORIGINAL: nrowensby

yeah you run a tiny bit rich for a second if you dont have a MAP. can't see it doing much damage but still you do this at your own risk. i've run a 004 on mine for a while and haven't had any problems. dont really have to worry to much either since i have no cat, but i don't have any black stuff on my borla tip, so i can't be running that rich
if you want a dv forge 006/007, baileys, stratmosphere, evoms, there all pretty much the same. but forge has a lifetime warranty on parts, and comes with different springs. but each of these will not be as loud as a BOV like a forge 004. the splitter can be either a dv, bov, or a hybrid of the two so its probly the best but its more expensive and the adjustment spring is annoying

I'd rather run rich than lean.
