Default blow off valve or bypass/diverter valve?

DO NOT get a blow off valve for your 1.8T, 2.7T or 4.2T or any other VAG turbocharged engine.

Getting a blow off valve to replace your stock diverter valve will cause detonation in your engine and most likely will cause your engine to fail over a period of time. The reason this happens is because the ECU (even the aftermarket ones) measures the air before it goes through the DV and it counts on that air to STAY in the system. It calculates the amount of fuel injected based on that air. If you will get a blow off valve the air will be released into the atmosphere and WILL NOT stay in the system. Therefore there will be too much fuel and not enough air in the engine and detonation might occur.

And NO, the DV does not make a "cool" sound like a BOV does. If you want the "cool" pshhhhhh sound u can get a hybrid BOV which is DV+BOV, meaning some air recirculates back into the systes, and some air goes into the atmosphere for your hearing pleasure. Getting a hybrid BOV is still not recommended though. Another way to get a cool sound is to get a cold air intake system which is comepletely safe for the engine.

If you have any further questions feel free to PM me.

P.S. This thread is here so there isnt 20 threads asking which is better DV or BOV.<edited><editID>Firestarter1984</editID><editDate>37965.5028009259</editDate></edited>
