Default Does anyone acualy use the phone?

Just thinking back to when I purchased my 97' A4 this past summer. I think I drove it for a few weeks before I opened the console and discovered it had a phone built in ! I thought about just taking it out so I'd have some extra storage, but on the other hand, I could drive around and pretened to be using it. After all, you don't see to many people holding a lunchbox size phone with a cord hanging out everyday.....lol Just curious if any of the members acualy have service with these? How would I go about getting service?

You most likely wont find any cell company that will give you sevice for a old school 3 watt phone. You will need to find out if it is a Digital or Anolog.

I used to be a mobile phone installer back when they first started to come out in the late 80's and did that till the mid 90's when they started phasing out the install kits and converting the system from Anolog to Digital.

My friend has one that he pretends to use. I had forgotten about it. He said he'd have to pay Audi to have it set up. Ingenious idea but... how do you talk on the phone while driving an Audi on the autobahn? lol not a good combo

There's a DIY somewhere that changes out that phone jack and turns it into an ipod charger or a usb port...pretty cool I think.

uuuuuhhhhh yeah, i would remove that trash and have some extra storage and do the USB mod that joe mentioned............don't get me wrong, its pretty cool to see and all......but where i come from (good ol' NY) i would get a nasty $100 fine for using that thing while driving!!!! Besides, with bluetooth indash radios and all..........this is kinda prehistoric. I had the phone in my car, and i removed it, once i installed my Pioneer AVIC-F900BT, that went straight to electronic recycling bin..............

Pretty sure it would cost about $30 everytime you make a call too.
