Default Door locks

So I have a kind of interesting predicament and I guess it's about time I try and fix it.

last time my car was in the shop the moment after I got it out of the shop the door lock snapped off. Now I can still drive the car (obviously) which is why I haven't done anything until now, but seeing as I go back to school in two weeks, I would like to get it fixed before I head back.

So my question:If you replace one lock, can you get it keyed to work with your old key, or do I have to either 1) carry a second key for just the driver door or 2) get all the locks and the ignition replaced for a new key.

here is a pic of the lock

and the part that broke off

And another question, if I have to replace all the locks on the car, would it be feasible to key them to a switchblade key or would I need to use a regular style key like I have now?

Thanks for the input,

thats probably a good question for a dealer, you can get a key copied, but having the lock copied i would assume is alot harder. it seems logical that you would need to replace your keys and locks, but again im not sure, just call any dealer and they can tell you.

Wow, i guess we have to cross that off the list of things that don't fail on audis........
As far as i know, you would have to replace all the locks in the car and get new keys. I would just get a new key cylinder in there and use your keyless entry as onepoint said. If you ever need to use the key you could still use it in the passenger's door to open the car.

I have the vacum system and it does have a keyless system but I don't know where my remote is.

So then part two of the question, would I be able to use a switchblade key instead of the normal key

if you already have a switchblade keyfob then get on ebay and buy an uncut blade for your remote and have it cut to the new lock if you need to get a new lock, or maybe try and look at a junkyard for a totaled vw or audi and get the locks and keys from that

I have pre-facelift which doesn't have the switchblade key. It just has a normal one. So I'm wondering what all is involved with converting a normal key to be able to use the switchblade key.

But the junkyard is a decent Idea, I'll have to look around for one.
