5w40 is what is recomended in my 00 owners manual. It says 5w30 can be used if 5w40 is not available. 0w40 is another option. I only use stuff that says " VW/Audi 502.00 and 505.01 approved" on the back of the bottle, but I'm **** like that. Any oil will work, and if you're using full synthetic every 3kish miles, it doesn't really matter anyways.

just checked now its Castrol Syntec Full Synthetic SAE 5W30 motor oil, and a puralator oil filter. there was a sale at pepboys for 5quarts and a filter get 5 more and a filter at half price, so my dad bought it like a month early just so we had it when we need it

Is the oil filter as big as your head?? If not you have the wrong one.
Your dad sounds like a real nice guy....

yup, cuz these engines can get pretty durti lol. i used 10w30 last year and didn't have a problem with burning oil, i've switched 5w30 and now i burn oil. i burn about a quart every 2500 miles. i'm switching back to 10w30 next weekend so we'll see how it goes. i think my piston rings are pretty much done for though
