drive shaft removal
this may be a dumb question. but i went underneath my car and made an attempt to replace the cv joint on my drive shaft, i could not seem to figure out how to remove it. i unscrewed the 6 allen bolts and thought i could slide it out of the transmission.....i was wrong. Does anyone know what i need to do or have a link to show me how to do it. I drive a 99 a4 1.8t avant. thanks in adavnce for your help

a hammer or a prybar?
i havent had it apart from the trans, but removed it from the differential. It was just kind of stuck to the diff by the grease and gasket in there... just try prying down on it |
The axles like to stick to the flange. The flange stays in the trans while the coupling comes off the flange. Use a dead-blow to walk the coupling off the flange. They can be a pain. Sometimes soaking the flange edge with rust penetrate will help. As a last resort, tap a prybar around the coupling to break it free of the flange.
