Default Driver info Display/Rear wheel power question

Just purchased a 01 a4 1.8t quattro with a Triptronic tranny.

My first issue is that my driver info display in the middle of the cluster is not working, therefore i cant tell what gear im in when I go into manual mode. Is there a aftermarket gauge that i can purchase to indicate gear? Or is it a easy fix? The display just lights up yellow on the top and red at the bottom.

My other issue is that the rear trunk badge says 1.8t quatrro, but when I look at the bottom rear, I see no kind of powertrain going to the rear wheels.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks....

I was going through classifieds and came across this. Not sure if it's worth it or not though

I saw those on Ebay for about the same price, just not sure if that will fix the problem, all my fuses check out fine.

The LCD displays are known to go bad (common pixel problem). I have an older model so I can't speak from experience, but I would first try to replace it than find an extra solution

That might help

As for the drivetrain question, the interior dashboard trim should also have a Quattro badge, for one. You should be able to see the differential in the rear if nothing else if it's AWD

If you go through those threads, there are links to businesses that will rebuild it for you for $150-200 with genuine Euro parts instead of cheaper LCDs from Asia. Might last you a bit longer and include a warranty

I never ended up getting the repair done. They are like only 2 min drive from me too, but its really just a cosmetic fix but it is a pretty good price. Just pay attention to the RPM and speed to determine your gear.

Haha it's cool, I'm sure there are some enthusiasts in your area too

Coincidentally (again), I was doing a little more research for myself and found this posting with a video documenting someone replacing their LCD
