which way does the stock dv go on ??

Pressure on the side of the valve.

 

Stock/Diaphram = side
piston = bottom

 

the spring part in to the intercooler pipe and hitting the side of the spring is where the intake hose go's?

 

If you look at the valve with the small nipple being the top, you want the inlet on the side of the valve housing to go into the intercooler pipe and the inlet on the bottom of the valve housing to go to the intake hose.

 

Are you sure that it should be at the bottom for a piston type?
I'm using a Forge replica and I have the pressure connected to the side of it and it works great. And I also read on the forge website that this is the correct way to hook it up.

it really doesnt matter, it can be hooked up either way. air can flow thru it in either direction.

 

They can be installed either way if it is the piston valve. If you are using a 006/007 they even say on their PDF install instructions they state

After looking at their servicing PDF it looks like their valve is some what designed just like the EVOms valve with a small ball at the bottom. This type of design is much louder when you install the valve so the pressure is facing the bottom of the piston(ball), when the air rushes past the ball it tends to get a loud whistle sound. I noticed this when I ran the EVOms valve when they first came out with that valve. On the EVOms valve the ball was designed with a indentation on the bottom to allow the pressure to push the valve evenly in all directions helping it seal better.


Forge used to sell a DV that was an exact copy of the stock bosch valve using a diaphram, that valve had to be installed just like the stock.
