hey everyone, first post on AF. just looking for some knowledge, ive looked at stickies and google for 2 days. but anyway my 98 audi a4 quattro 1.8t has a CEL on and everytime the turbo should kick in i hear a load shhhh noise and no power. that makes me think the turbo is still working but for some reason the engine isnt getting the power. could be it a bad DV ? or a leak in the vaccum? everything looks alright ive been researching and poking around for a while now and need some info before i spend any money on parts

I would do a boost/vac leak check. "Shhhhh" sounds like air escaping from someplace. Any CEL? As pbcrazy said, it would be useful if you could pull the code(s) and post them up.

If you'd like to do a boost leak test, I have a tester that I can mail you if you promise not to steal it.
