i've got a question that someone might be able to answer.
i've got an incar dvd player which doesnt pop out, it is one of those screens that just sit there. but the issue is i'm not sure how i can fit a 7inch screen into the dash, is there any suggestions or is it even possible? i havnt got a foto of the dash but it has the climate control screen and buttons at the bottom, then a slot for the cd player and hazard, fog light etc buttons ontop of that with a wood grain

also in the posts i can only seem to upload my foto as a thumbnail, how do i enlarge that?

Wanted to do the same thing with my car. The only possibility and it is totally not worth it, is to move the climate controls down to replace the cigarette lighter and coin tray area. you have to fab up some little bezels to cover the sides and unless your a pro with fiberglass you wont be able to do a good job. The only option is a flip-out style screen to replace the old concert unit. And dont go with a clarion either, i do not really like mine go with panasonic or pay a little extra and go with pioneer.

 

yeah i figured it would be a very big and costly hassle to do so.
but with a flip up dvd screen, do you get an issue with it blocking you aircon vents?

 

no it does not block any vents but on my 98 i have the foglightrear defrosterand emergency switches as well as the little compartment which do get blocked but i neveruse them.its not hard to just flip the screen down anyway to get at them. I always leave my screen up and i keep my Shiv in the little compartment so if anything were to go down i would have to hassle with the screen to get it.

 

I guess I dont understand what your saying? You want to get a 7" screen STATIONARY into the dash? Instead of the flip up/down screen you have currently? Am I getting this correctly?

 

yes. there flip out dvd players that are single din which means they take up a space about 7" wide by 3" tall. you can get double din dvd players that do not flip out. they are litterally a screen that sits in the dash/console area. it mounts flush and looks much nicer and cleaner.

go to bestbuy.com and search for their car audio dvd players and im pretty sure you'll see what im talking about. i have to run to class, otherwise id show ya.
