Default e brake & Abs warning?

Was driving the other day when the e brake and abs light started flashing at me. I know it could be many things but I was thinking that it could be a common thing. Has it happened to anyone? if so? what was the problem?

Yeah your ABS control module is toast. Happens to lots of people. You can send it away (search) to get rebuilt for $150-$250, or just ignore it and be aware that you don't have ABS functionality like me

is that what that means?

every time i scan my car for codes. when it gets to the ABS section, it scans fine. but my brake light comes on and abs flashes, and it says no codes found. is that normal or is mine shot too??

only vag-com software can detect abs and srs codes. If your brake and abs light is on or even just intermittent, more than likely its the abs module. VERY common thing on the b5, search the forum, you'll see. Samething happened to my car, got a used one which only lasted a few months, now the warning is back. Eventually I'll get it rebuilt by these guys http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-Pa...1%7C240%3A1308

How do you know it's the abs module without a VAG scan? I had the ABS and BRAKE MILs come on and it turned out to be a d/s rear wheel speed sensor which when replaced automatically cancelled the lights. Just curious.

I've repaired them as cheap as $60 before. Don't mean to spam the forum, but I have the repair on ebay as well for $99. A lot of these places 'fix' involves running a jumper wire to a different connection point rather than actually repairing and upgrading the failed connection point (what I do). Don't know what that company does, but just be aware that there are some places out there that are rip offs. There is one that is notoriously bad somewhere in the southeast (don't remember their name). People have sent me hack jobs done by other people before that either didn't work or failed again. Just sayin...

Default B6 A4 ABS Warning

My ABS warning light just come on today. Possibly the same issue? If so, can you (sidespar) send me details on how you handle repair of these (payment, shipping, etc)?

Thanks,

Matt

Mine has been doing the same thing for awhile. Interestingly, when it is hot/warm outside, it does it right away, but the colder the outside temp is, the longer it takes to start flashing at me.

Cheers,

Doug
