Default Easiest way to get more power out of a 97/98 A4 2.8?

I'll be picking up a 97 or 98 A4 2.8 soon, and wanted to know some decent ways to get more power out of it, what kind of gains can I expect from a chip, intake, etc. What kind of power are you guys getting out of your 2.8s without going FI. I'd consider an SC in the future but its cost prohibitive at the moment :P although I would like to know what some kits you guys are running/how much they cost with install, and what kind of power you're making with them. Thanks!

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a noob when it comes to Audis.

not sure if that was sarcastic or not but if you don't believe me, there's a search feature you can use and other people will drop their .02

NOS is good, or if you get a 98 then you can go with a PES supercharger for high Horsepower...otherwise you can go with simple stuff ECS lightweight pulleys, 2.5in custom exhaust ( take off passenger side cat and only use 1 ), intake, and a upgrade to ECU and again if you get a 98 you can chip it, the older mid 97 models and lower are un-chipable Hitachi ecu's but their editable. 97's and lower are really not focused on so they dont make many parts for them so you gots to do every little thing to get even 1hp of it lol thats what i do...

If you do so happen to get a 97 or lower then You can also take drastic measures and do what some people did as posted on audiworld .com . The people who had 2.8s they bored out their cylinder heads and actually got a pretty good amount of HP out of it...

But anyhoo is up to you, good luck with it man lol

PES will give you 295 at the crank as they claim. I think im gonna bore out my block and put forged internals in my 2.8 and then supercharge it next OCT...build that bitch's bottom end to handle the new thump.Any body got a link to forged internals?

not sure of the 'easiest' way, but I'd be lusting after a PES supercharger.

haha i apologize for the smart remark, but i assumed it was a joke.

Thanks for all the input guys, i'm going to go for a 98 then. The PES supercharger sounds pretty good actually, but how daily driveable is it, and how much does the kit cost/where can I find it? Thanks
