my motor in my 96 a4 2.8 has a slight tick that comes and goes on different days is that a problem

Where exactly is that tick coming from? Side of the engine top or bottom?
If is top that means the oil is not getting to your lifters because they r hidraulics ,if is on the side or bottom u r on the eight track for an engine failure

my 98 2.8 does this only when its negative outside and only for a few seconds on start up after sitting for a long time it sounds like valve tap

from what ive heard is that the 2.8 is notorious for ticks and random sounds.

thanks it only does it on cold days like it did it earlier than stoped wen it was warm so idk i changed the oil and run royal purple in the motor it does wonders lol

I know in the 20v low oil levels will cause ticks
