Default ECM / ECU Replacement

Appears that I need a new ECM/ECU, and have found a few on eBay for a reasonable price.

The Part Number, 1998 year model, etc. match exactly to my car.

The differences:

1. The cars they came out of are Auto/Tips and mine is a manual.

2. My ECM lists Motorsteuerung D01 on the 2nd line under the part number, one of them online lists Motorsteuerung D03...

Not sure if these make any difference whatsoever.

Please advise.

not positive but i believe you can use that ecu if you have vag com to change it from auto to manual. i would guess if you threw that one in there, it prolly would run but you would get a bunch of tranny codes. if i were you try and find one that came out of another manual so it would be a complete drop in.
