If you're beginning to notice oil drips on the ground, a burning oil smell or smoke from underneath the hood, a leaking valve cover gasket or camshaft tensioner gasket may be the culprit.

A common gasket to leak on VAG engines, the valve cover gasket is nothing to ignore. Don't forget to always replace the camshaft tensioner gasket at the same time as these are also prone to leaking.
