It's funny I'm not even ordering from ECS, but rather from Mike Hood (Thanks Mike!!)


But, On ECS for my 01 Avant Quattro (AWM, 1.8T) 5Speed


It lists TWO clutches, LUK (AWM only) and Sachs (AEB and ATW (Or w/e it is) Only.


My question is, I thought a clutch was a clutch for w/e years it was made for. No site but ECS says the engine code matters, for instance the Same kit that ECS sells for LUK replacement kit is 360, and AWM Only.

On ebay the same kit is 230 shipped (Still original packaging, branding, LUK kit) but does not specify engine code.

Does the engine code honestly effect what clutch we get, or is it gripforce or something silly to deal with the extra...20 hp of the AWM?

 

As far as I know a clutch for a b5 1.8t is a clutch for a 1.8t! But I might be wrong. Mike Hood FTW!

 

Just looks like they are listing what type of clutch kit came with the 058 motor(sach) and the 06A motor(luk). But either should work fine on either.
If you go to the product page and look at the application guide it actually says "B5 A4 ALL 1.8t " on both clutch kits.

Odd thing is if you go to the B6 1.8t clutch kits listing they dont even list a full OEM clutch kit. Just the parts separately. But listed a Luk PP, Sach disk and Luk flywheel.



If you look at the aftermarket clutch kits you will noticed 1 kit is listed for all of the A4 1.8t, covering both B5/B6, 5 speed and 6 speed.
