ECT sensor location a4 2.8 96

Default ECT sensor location a4 2.8 96

need to change my ECT sensor on my 96 A4 2.8 but I couldn't locate it. All what I found on internet was about 1999 and after. Somebody help me!

i went through the same thing u did lol... still am actually... everyone shows for the 1.8t and occasionally the 30v 2.8...... its not as "simple" as they all say it is... if u dont have small hand its going to be a pain in the *** (and painful if u dont let the car cool off haha)... after i get done eating ill go out there and see if i can get a pic for you to show u where it is

make sure u get the four prong black top too

is it located between the engine and the firewall deeeeeeep under all hoses and other stuff aproximately 1 feet deep...?

just take the hard plastic intake pipe off and you should have plenty of room. there's only 1 allen bolt holding it onto the throttle body on the driver's side and the visible one right on top, then just pull it off. there's a rubber seal on it, make sure you don't lose that. also make sure to get a new 0 ring and clip for the new ECT sensor

LOL...and I replaced mine without removing the plastic intake pipe...what a pain in the ***!

it's different on the 12v. there's that other thing in the way. i did 2 30v without removing the pipe cuz i'm asian. represent!!!

allen bolt? what are u talking about? i never even went on the driver side and i took mine off fine... and there is no rubber retainer its a metal clip... just remove the intake pipe on the from th MAF sensor and the throttle body cover thing... then all u have to do is get some light and see what your doing...

and again dont make the same mistake i did, let the car cool off before you take off the sensor or it will spray nice hot coolant all over you and hurt like a som bitch haha

Do not replace it with a black top sensor, those are faulty. Replace it with either a green or blue top sensor, whichever one comes with the 30V. Come to think of it i don't know if they even produce the black ones anymore, there are just left over faulty ones.
