ECU
Went to a shop and they said my car was running bad because something was wrong with my ecu, but my car only runs bad when it is hot outside if i take it for a spin at night it rides fine, this is gonna sound stupid but does the ecu have a fan or can it over heat haha. sorry i am a newb at his stuff
running "bad" could mean alot of things. always try to replicate the problem and let us know under what exact conditions it happens. for example, the idle is too high when its above 80F degrees outside, or the right front wheel squeals when over 40mph and turning, etc.
to answer your question no the ECU doesnt have a fan, its a sealed little box, you can take a look at it under the hood directly infront the steering wheel. its the black little box about 1 square foot, take out the 5 screws and the lid comes off, the computer is inside. your problem is not because the ECU is over heating.

ya your cpu is basically made from cmos chips which means they barely make any heat. it's not like a computer cpu where it's extremely complicated with cores and stuff. right now you havent' given us enough info to tell you what's wrong. if you have a check engine light on, get the car scanned and post the code here. and like ghost said running bad has many meanings. i'm thinking you got heatsoak and the shop just wants your money
