Default EGR valve help! 12v

How do you unbolt the egr valve?! I have a crows foot wrench but I can't get it to do anything. Do you turn the bigger nut clockwise or counterclockwise..?

I have a CEL for this, been meaning to get to it but haven't had time. Are you gonna try to clean it or just replace it? I took the day off today, i'll go outside and start fiddling with mine and see if i can lend you any useful info.

I just want to clean it, if that doesn't fix my problems I'll try replacing it. I don't see how people get the thing off.. if you're able to, let me know

I just found this on another forum:

"The EGR was fairly easy to take out. Unscrew the two screws holding it on, using a 10mm U-joint socket. Through the driver-side wheel well (wheel removed) disconnect the EGR pipe at the exhaust manifold, with a 22mm wrench. The whole thing will wiggle up and out of the car."

Hope it helps.
