Default ENGINE BLOWN

My engine just blew because of a timing belt incident. It was a 2.8L 99andI was wondering what kind of prices for engines am i looking at and also was wondering if i could put in a 1.8Lt or 2.0Lt instead.

well who knows, it could be everything that has anything to do with valves, or it could be nothing at all, you need to tear the motor down before you buy any parts

you could have got lucky nd not messed much up

2sick, in your other thread, you said it drove fine when you went to McD's, then turned it off, and when you tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't?

Based on that description, I don't think you have much to worry about. People have had their timing belts snap off while driving... THAT is bad.

go for the same exact motor again, should cost 2k for a low mileage motor (2.8L 30v) and you will pay 1.5-2k for install

if you go for a motor swap, it will be alot more involved, prolly a good 3.5k in labor to get a 1.8T up and operating in your engine bay

a 2.7T, as hott as that would be, it would honestly make more sense to fix your car, back to factory, and then trade it in for an S4 or A6 2.7T

gl with the repairs, sorry to hear about your motor [&o]

I doubt its blown. My timing belt jumped teeth while i was driving it at 70mph and it did some damage in the heads and wouldn't run for sh**. The motor shook really bad it just wasn't good. Turned out there were 12 bent valves so i got all of them replaced with head gaskets, valve stem seals, new waterpump, thermostat, belt and tensioner but it did cost me 3900 dollars. My car is a 1999.5 30valve 2.8 as well.
