Default Engine Control module again!!!!!

Ok six months ago I would start the car up and it would idle rough and check engine light was on. I went and it scanned and it was a missfire in cyclinder 3 changed plugs and still happened. I figures out it was the engine control module and I changed it and fixed it. Now this morning I have the same problems. Can this happen in a six month span?? I haven't scanned it yet, but what else could it be?? The check engine light was flashing and now it is staying on.

Help please!!

scan it again and post it. just because it's misfiring again doesn't mean it's the ECU again

You mean the ICM right? The ECM is the same thing as an ECU. Follow the steps in the "DO YOU HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT??" sticky.

I DID!! I ran the code and misfire in cylinder three. After driving for 5 minutes it was still on. Came back out after work and check engine light was still on. Drove home shut it off and back on and not it's gone.
Cleared it!

You SURE!? Because you didn't say anything about swapping cyl 3 coil pack with a different one to see if the miss followed the coil pack!...?

Where did you get the ICM? Is it mounted on your air box like its supposed to be?

Was it new or used? Try swapping the coil pack, and plug for that matter before getting another ICM. The icm should last a lot longer than 6 months if it was new.
