Engine Mounts

That sounds harder than I was hoping it would be...I was hoping I could magically peel back enough of the headliner to access some remarkably easy-to-remove screws and that then the roof rails would lift off with ease leaving behind teeny tiny holes...guess not. Come do mine next!

As for the shaving, if a guy at a shop did it by himself, he did a DIY. That means I can do it!

Totally worth it.
I just gotan a4 2.8 quattro w/ 160k on it. it runs great and just installed a k&n intake but the car kinda shakes when ideling(not too bad) i dont know if the previous owner toke care of the car the way i would. does that sound like it might need new mounts? also dont have the tools or the space to do the work myself how much should it cost? no shake when shifting but i can feel the shifter move when i take my foot on or off the accelerator. thnx for al the help

Normally I would encourage someone to DIY, but this job was a pain. After I finish most projects on the Avant, I feel accomplished and satisfied, but this one just left me bruised and filthy. Anyway, depending upon whether or not you provide the mounts and how much you pay for them, the price for replacement would probably be $200-$300.
