engine question

Default engine question

ok its actually 2 questions

1 how can i tell if my engine is type AEB

2 my car has a brand new engine in it, replaced by an audi dealer, i was just wondering if all a4 motors say s4 on it or did they put an s4 motor in my car? picture:

The S4 on the coil pack has nothing to do with an Audi S4.

There is a metal tab on the front of theengine that has your engine code. You have AEB. All 97-99 engines are AEB with throttle linkage, etc. (DBC as opposed to DBW.) You should be happy you dont have ATW/AWM engine with all the tattle tale sensors, etc.

This is common info easily found in a sticky or search. Well, maybe not the S4 part.

i read some where else when i googled it that the 97-99 were 150HP AEB and 99.5-01.5 were 170HP non AEB or something

97-99 = AEB= 150hp
00=ATW=150hp
01=AWM=170hp

ok im probly going to **** you off, but as you probly read in that other post... my motor was replaced with a brand new one in say..2003 would they use a newer model motor or the same one i had, the motor and turbo were replaced according to the paperwork.

No. Your coil packs are AEB coil packs anyways.. They would have had to replace lots of things other than your engine if they were going to put anything other than an AEB back in it... I knew you were going to ask this, just based on your other questions. No big deal.

alright thanks, i just wanted to make sure, i was going to get an ecu on ebay but it says for Engine Code AEB
