Default Exhaust mount/shield: what goes here?

The previous owner had cut out the 2 flex pipes on my 2.8. I put new ones back on, but I think parts are missing. Is there anything supposed to be in this area, like a mounting bracket, heat shield?

My 2.8 had heat shields on the cats like that, but nothing around the flex pipes. What you've got looks good to me

I am just suspect of the one, 'fresh' bolt hole between the 2 exhaust.

Also not sure where this heat shield goes, like drive shaft, or to protect the trans shifter?

That, my friend, is a good question. I didn't even notice that bolt hole at first but you're right. It does look suspiciously clean. Did that heat shield fall off or did you take it off or did the PO take it off or what?

I did! So I can't blame anybody but me.
But that was weeks ago when all the troubles started. Memory fading quick (must be an age thing).
New trans supposed to show up on Monday, so I want to get ready.

lol nice. sorry man, maybe you can get one of the 2.8 guys to take a pic of the underside of their car so you can see where that goes?

If your exhaust is sturdy enough then don't worry about it. If it's not then just get some universal hangers and apply where necessary.
