Default Exhaust Question: Catalytic Converter is bolted to the turbo??

"On an A4, the catalytic converter is bolted to the turbocharger and then the exhaust begins with the downpipe."

-source: http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...tegory=Exhaust

I learned from my last thread that I should go for chip first, then a turbo back exhaust, then a boost controller. While I was searching for a turbo-back exhaust, I found out that the catalytic converter of A4 is bolted to the turbocharger. So does that mean that "Cat-back exhaust for A4= Turbo-back exhaust for A4?" Or do I have to somehow get rid of the catalytic converter that is bolted to the turbocharger and get a test pipe? Or does it mean something else?

I want to get a turbo-back exhaust. (and by a turbo-back exhaust, i mean an exhaust with a test pipe instead of a catalytic converter. My goal is to get about 20-25 hp on the wheels by adding an aftermarket turbo back exhaust.) Is a "cat-back exhaust" from APR or Neuspeed (or any other company)the same as what I mean by "turbo-back exhaust?" Can somebody clearify how exhaust system works on A4's, specifically B5's?

Thank you.

just have the old exhaust removed and have whomevers doign the new one, weld in a bung for the o2 sesor. do 2.5" piping. you'll end up saving money as well. you'll need to source a muffler though.

the cat attaches to the turbo and pretty much is the downpipe. it is not a turbo bak because it still has a ristrictive cat, most guys get a test pipe to replace teh cat and then its technically a turbo back exhuast because its free flowing from the turbo out.

From what I saw in the "newbie guide 2" post is that at about 2,000rpms there is a huge increase in power almost 20HP.

Also these non-foulers how do they work? Do they just tell the computer that the cat is working fine?
