Default Extreme vibration on acceleration

Hello to everyone here.

So as the title says I have vibration on acceleration that goes away when I left off the gas it's so bad that I had it towed in fear of breaking something I've asked a bunch of local mechanics what they think and since SA is on lockdown I can't have it checked so the information I'm getting is that it's the inner cv joint, now I did check the wheel bearings moving wheel at 12 and 6 position no play whatsoever, what I have noticed on the drivers side axle it moves by hand back and forth and up and down is this the inner cv causing the vibration? I just want to make sure before I go and start stripping it.

1995 a4 (b5) 1.8 non turbo adr (automatic)

Thanks in advance

Have you tried moving the other side to see if it has the same movement? Was the boot torn or leaking? Is your car a Quattro?

If it is Quattro ("adr" in your post??), I wonder if the u-joints connecting the center differential are starting to go.

Ya I was thinking the drive shaft bearing if it was a Quattro.

Sorry the adr is the motor I put it there incase it was needed and it's a front wheel drive only, the passenger side axle has no movement whatsoever only the drivers side I had some more time to take a look the outer cv boot is missing some peices and the inner cv has alot of movement but the boot looks fine.

The inner CV joints are very poorly designed on our cars IMO. The ball bearings can very easily come out of place if they were not installed properly, or if they were taken off and put pack on, etc. I would replace the CV axle first. It makes the most sense (to me) and it's probably the cheapest place to start.
