Default Fading rear valance?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you ever had this problem with your B5. The black plastic valance piece underneath the bumper is fading on me. It's almost white in some places. I saw another B5 when I was going to get some blood drawn with the same problem, almost white. I tried putting tire gloss on it so see if it would do anything. It worked great for the molding, but the valance went right back to the faded color in the morning. What have you guys done about this? Do you think some light black spray paint from dupli-color will do the trick? I try to avoid the stealership as much as possible.

give this **** a try. I know my buddy used it on his TSI Talon and worked great. Lasted for a while before he had to reapply. It might be worth while. The paint work would be ideal but there is an awful lot of prep work to get a decent job.

Thanks, I'm heading out to Autozone later, I'll see if they have it.

I don't know of you can see it in these pics, but I'll post what I took. And don't worry, chrome exhaust tips are coming next.

doesn't look too bad. Like I said a buddy of mine used it and it worked great. If it doesn't work you can still use it for trim or what not and then go with painting.

You might use this as an excuse to paint your lowers

If you decide to go the paint route, make sure you use something specifically designed for plastic, and also use adhesion promoter so it doesn't peel off

ok, I went to Autozone, and I picked up a can of Dupli-Color. Since the plastic is a flat color and not metallic or clear-coated, what kind of prep work has to go into it?

I found this article, but I like keeping things stock for the most part, so I'm not interested in matching the color of my paint.

I hear this stuff works well. If you don't remove the lowers, you'll want to tape and cover the hell out of everything. Take your time applying the paint as well. Painting is a process. Little by little apply coat after coat for the best results. BEWARE OF THE OVERSPRAY. Paint is like that Cheetos cheese. If you aren't careful, that **** will get everywhere.
