Default Febi Control Arm kit

Steer clear of this kit.

Mfg Part#8D0498998
ECS Part# ES#251940
BrandFebi

I purchased the entire front kit from ECS and after my car drove like hell. Difficult to steer to the point of having to steer it out of a turn to straight. I drove it a few K miles still no good. I finally had the time to sort it out by removing one joint at a time and feeling if it was stiff to turn. Finally found the upper rear control arm ball joint the worse of them all. Almost unable to rotate with channel lock pliers.

I bought the entire kit to eliminate the need to fu@% with it, but ended up doing it anyway. I purchased that one arm TRW brand from my local import supplier I use here at my shop (Why I didn't just get it from them to start with I don't know)
And the car drives sooooo much better.

So I emailed ECS and they say I need to send it back for a replacement. Great all of them? then get what- the same cr@p?

I don't have the time to ship it or to deal with it. Thanks For selling cr@p.
I know what I wont be installing on customers cars for sure.

Febi is the next best brand down from Lemfoerder, just because you got one bad control arm doesn't mean everything made by them is crap. Defects happen, as a mechanic you should know that.

^^ I Agree and that was why I bought this kit. But both sides were practically impossible to turn so what is the new replacement going to be?

The cost and time of shipping it back isn't worth it to me. I bit the bullet and spent about $100 more the problem is solved. Just frustrated and buying it this way made it much harder for me to deal with. The time element for me is the the most frustrating, I don't have much extra time.

That's understandable, I'd do the same in your situation. There's nothing worse than shelling out extra money for a reputable brand and having it be basically DOA. I wouldn't hesitate to but Febi again though, they have a good reputation.

Replaced both lower arms two at a time with lemforder. Lower rears, drove it-better.... Then the main ones the shocks bolt to the next day Drives pretty much like it should now.

Just a warning steer clear of Febi control arms.
