Default a few things with my 99

i have a few of the normal issues with b5s but more specifically the head light combi switch

ive replaced the lower plastic slide and contacts in it 2 times each time the back copper contacts seem to short and melt the plasic casing causing the contact to get stuck up and i lose my low beams

i was wondering if there was some type of fix to keep this from happening or should i opt for a new switch completly

and the second i remeber seeing a post awhile back about using spark plug spacers i think they are called for the o2 sensor to raise them out of the exhaust a lil to remove the check engine light

im fairly sure i killed my rear sensor by it getting overly hot dont know if someone has a link to this mod or if its even viable for my situation

I can't offer any suggestions for your combi switch (but if it's such a pain in the ***, replace it I would guess). The spark plug antifouler trick you're refering to was intended for a cat delete test pipe, since the test pipe doesn't filter anything... give me a minute and I'll find a thread or link for you...

Here's a link someone sent me... follow the link to the site, then select the testpipe link (second one down I believe). A lot of stuff you have to sift through, but towards the bottom it gets to the antifouler trick. Again, this is for a test pipe. If your downstream O2 sensor is shot, I don't think any trick will help. It will probably need to be replaced. I'm not sure about the specifics, but if the sensor has gone bad, it will cause your engine to run in open loop indefinately (instead of just when you start it) which is really not good for the engine. Someone else with a little more knowledge on this might be able to explain it better...
