Default the final stage of audi repair.

Alright well I got the audi all fixed......kinda. It has the worst sounding idle ever. You can listen to this here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MBxrFN54_M. Anyone know as to what is causing this terrible sound. Also it gets really hot on the side with the turbo. I believe that it is a bit hotter than normal. Also I replaced one of my cv joints the passenger. After I got it started I put it in gear. I then hear a whining noise and a kinda popping noise from what I believe to be the driver side cv joint. My speedometer also hopped up to about 20 during the whining and popping. Can anyone shoot some ideas my way? I drive a 2001 audi a4 1.8t quattro 5 speed.

I changed it right before I put it together. Mobile 1 euro blend.

Not sure what to suggest about the whining sound, but I'd be willing to bet the rough idle is shot vacuum lines. Check and replace all of them (you can get 3mm vac tubing at autozone for about 10 cents a foot iirc) and then do an ECU reset (either clear the codes with vag-com or just unplug the battery for a few minutes to let everything power down and reset) and see if that helps. If not, some seafoam may be in order. Good luck!

Well I checked the lines when it was in service position and they looked fine. I might run the seafoam. The gas in it is pretty old but not putrid. I don't have any codes as the battery was disconnected for about 6 months prior. Throttle body wasn't aligned maybe? I dunno.

Well, looks can be deceiving, mine looked fine too until I touched one and it practically turned to dust in my fingertips so you never know.

I definitely recommend seafoam and getting some fresh gas in there, that definitely could be contributing; and then try a TBA and see what comes up from there. After that, look to the air intake. If the filter is old, change it, if its a K&N or similar, clean it. Clean the maf as well, and maybe even shoot some throttle body cleaner in there too, as well as cleaning out the ICV, all of those can contribute to rough idle.

What was wrong with your car in the first place? What all did you do to repair it?

I'll check more into the idle here soon. I think the whine and kinda crackle noise is my driver side joint ill get more in depth with that later as well. What is a ICV I don't know that acronym yet. So I think I will clean the filter get some fresh gas then seamfoam it.
