Default First time audi owner :)

I just purchased my first audi a couple days ago. Its a 1999.5 A4 2.8 Quattro, manual. I would love to do some minor modifications to it. Two things come to my mind, first is a K&N Intake system, i know it will actually be warm air but i think the car would sound a lot better, let me know if im wrong. Another thing i might do once i have the money for it is upgrade the ecu, i read it increases hp ridiculously.

I would also love to put in my double din pioneer 4000 but it looks like i can only put in a single din. Any thoughts?

How does it have more horsepower when it's cold? I would think it has less o_O

colder engine = denser air = more horsepower

Cold engine = cold internals = cold fluids = high viscosity = high amount of friction = low energy transfer to the ground

While driving, I wouldn't think the engine temp would have enough time to heat up air that much under the hood, so I would approximate the ambient air temp as the overall temperature of air being consumed by the engine.

Oh, also:
When cold, the engine's combustion efficiency is reduced because the cold engine block draws heat out of the cylinder in the compression stroke.

Found that on wiki about diesel engines, but I'm sure it applies to all motors.

But what do I know :\

impulse you are wrong about all 3 points you made lol. the K&N filter will foul your MAF and you'll wonder why your car is running weird and get a cel. a chip on the 2.8 will not give you a lot of HP, i had one but i didn't pay 400. i paid 150 shipped from speedtuning. it was worth it because the lower end torque was better than stock but overall, not much gain. if your car is already a 99.5, you already have a double din

the computer gives it more HP to warm up the car faster also warming up the car faster once the process is down the computer clocks the engine back to 190
