Fix sunroof before selling my 98'?
Sadly, it is time for me to sell my 1998 A4 Quattro 2.8. My kids and all their stuff don't fit in it anymore.
The car is in great shape, only 80k miles - but the sunroof does not open. I tried fixing it myself, but no go.
Should I have it repaired first or put it on the market as is?

I would say it depends on how much it will cost you to repair the sunroof.
You can sell it the way it is and deducted the cost of fixing it from the price of the car. I think people are gonna low-ball you for non-working sunroof though.
At last, I think you should upgrade to a bigger Audi. Perhaps the A6 in Avant form?

I would pull a black sheep...find someone who buys your car without checking the sunroof, and assemble the sunroof switch so it breaks falls off when being used....."what'd you do?!"
But yea, just get an repair assessment.

but seriously, get another audi. they do have suv's and such
That's what I figured but I guess it helps to hear someone else say it.
The problem is that it's going to cost at couple hundred bucks just to get an *estimate* on how much the fix will cost.
BTW, I am going to the dark side and getting Honda/Toyota minivan...need the space, sliding doors---those of you with little kids will understand.

Would have been fine if I would had known ahead of time so I could have budgetted for it.
When I sell something I try to be honest as possible if it s broke tell the buyer that way you dont get a nasty call down the line... I acutally have bought multiple bikes of a guy because he was so honest with the first one I bought off of him
shop around for an estimate. at least give the estimate to the buyer so they know you were working on it. you really could just take that estimate off the top. good luck with the sale and getting a new ride. too bad it's gonna be a mini van. i hope we don't get to that point. maybe the my wife will volunteer her car for the van...sigh...i hate mini vans.
