Fog Building Up in Car
Hi All
Audi A4 1996 2.8
I live in a costal area, during winter the lowest temperature we get is 7 Celcius "I.e. there is no frost or ice".
However it does rain and it is cold, so when I drive during winter with the windows closed fog starts to build up in the whole car on all windows, normally I just get into the car and turn on the heater without circulation it does get better then but the fog does not disappear completely.
Did I miss something here ?
Should I turn on the cold air conditioner ?
Thanks

Yeah I do turn the rear defogger on and that does solve the rear situation..about the front end ..when I do that and the temperature is set to warm..it gets worse and all the front wind shield gets fogged up is this normal ?
HAHA never heard of that. But everyones windshields do that during the winter. Its nothing to be worried about. Just some take longer to defrost than others.
not mine! how hard/how hot is that air supposed to blow? i CANNOT defog my windows. i have to drive with the windows down. heat full blast is like luke warm and not too hard.. cabin air filter is new, thermostat reads in the middle.
The A/C wont run unless the temp is over like 34 degrees.. It really doesnt matter because the air is so dry when it gets below that.. all you need is hot air. If the air feels luke warm there might be something wrong with the blend door or air temp sensor since your coolant sounds like its hot from the gauge. This: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int.html might help, and a VAG might also. As far as the air might not blowing very hard that could either be becuase the air is directed to too many locations, try only directing it to the windshield. If it still feels weak it might be the blower motor or something with the climate control module or something. Id try that link above and see if there are any codes. Also set your climate control to Hi and see how hot the air is.
EDIT: 7 degrees C should mean your A/C is turning on, so make sure when you try and defog the window the snowflake is lit. When you turn the A/C on at idle the RPMs should drop for just a second and the coolant fan should turn on.
