Front Axle bolt NOT TTY in kit ???
Replacing front right half-shaft for 2001 A4 Quattro.
Replacement shaft in box from "Cardone". Bolt that came with axle
was a conventional looking "hex head" instead of
usual 17mm socket head. Length the same & thread size.
Instructions with kit were vague and stated "approx" 170 ft-lbs
for such FWD axles. Called tech support for Cardone & they
didn't seem to know squat! Had to describe what a TTY bolt was.
Did not use this bolt as I keep VW/AUDI spares at hand & used one of
those.
Any thoughts or similar experiences??
Cheers

First off, Cardon isn't the best for axles. But since you already have it in...
Not sure why the new bolt had that type of head. I always reuse mine though. And FYI, the torque spec is ridiculous, something like 180 degrees after 170 lb ft. It is a lot.
