fuel cut
today while driving on an exit ramp that turns into a parkway, i was doing about 65-70 around the turn and i hit a fuel cut at about 5k rpms in 4th gear. the turn was a sweeping right hand turn. the car was fine right after, but it was strange.
anyone else have this happen? is the fuel pump on the left side of the tank? keep in mind i had just over a quater tank when this happened.
is it likely that the gas was all on one side and i just had no gas to the pump for a second? or is this probably something w/ the pump itself or something w/ the fuel lines.

are you sure it was a fuel issue? its not a good thing to run the pump dry with your foot on the gas, you can go dangerously lean. ive never had an issue with hard cornering on a low tank of gas, there should always be something in the sump/pickup to cover any sloshing around. this just doesnt sound definately fuel related to me.
Wouldn't be a fuel issue seeing that the fuel pump sits in a basket which will keep fuel around it at all time, so even in a high speed corner the fuel just gets pushed up against the basket. Must have been another issue that you felt.
i checked for codes and didnt get anything. im pretty sure it was a fuel cut though, cause ive had it happen in my friends car b4 and it was almost exactly the same. it only happened for a second, pretty much at the sharpest part of the turn.
im not sure what im gunna do about it cause it hasnt happened again, and theres no codes so i dont wanna just start ripping stuff apart.

Maybe the pump shut off or fuel pump releay shut off for a split second.
You would have seen a "low fuel" code if the car cut out because of the fuel being pushed away from the pump even though its just impossible for it to happen in the A4. I have yet to see this problem in the last 8 years of drag racing my A4 even with 1/8th tank of gas and pulling 2 g's.
Here is a picture of what the pump unit looks like. This is installed into a basket. Stock unit is on the right and the one on the left is the 034 unit.
