Talking Fuel Filter

I just bought my car 3 weeks ago so I'm just starting the typical maintenance and next up is the fuel filter, so is there access to the filter and tank under the rear seat or do you have to get at it under the car? Also is there a schrader valve on the fuel rail, or do you have to pull the fuse to release the fuel pressure? thanks

Be careful removing the banjo bolt. I tried twisting it too hard ( it was beyond rusted, and I had been using PB blaster for several days), ended up snapping the lower fuel line and had to get it patched..

The fuel filter is fairly easy to replace if you take into consideration some of the formentioned tips from other owners. It's just in front of the ight rear wheel housing near the frame rail. But, remember to replace the "copper slugs",i.e. washers, on both sides of the banjo fittings. They take a a pattern set and could possibly leak. Besides it's good a idea, it's cheap, and a common practice of good mechanics.

Default Fuel filter replacement

You shouldn't have to pull a fuse. "Just be careful" when you loosen the banjo bolts have a drain pan handy to catch the pressurized fuel in the lines, it should eventually bleed off assuming the key is not on. Also, for safety sake, wear safety glasses and don't use a drop light to illuminate the work area. Can you say "Fire"? Try to do it during the day when you can have plenty of natural light. If you jack it up to gain more working room under the car make sure you have jack stands under the hard mount points so the car doesn't fall on you and make sure you're on a level surface. Audi's are heavy cars. Nuff said.
