Default Gas

I was running 87 octane in my 98.5 a4 v6and was wanting to change to 93 octane, but I was reading the gas door and it to me though in german looked like it said run between 87-91 so being that I didn't want to take the chance I put in 89 octane....Can I run 93 octane and what r the benfites to running it?????

Also is it okay to switch octane was 1/4 tank of gas on a different octance in the tank????

i would stay between 87-91 unless your car is programmed differently. your car is expecting that octane and the timing is meant for that octane rating. but overall, if u did go with 93, it's not really going to hurt anything.

Higher octane gas will not hurt anything. All octane rating means is the gasolines resistance to detonate.

You won't notice any difference between 89, 91 or 93 with the 2.8. I'd stick with the cheapest which is 89.

This topic has been covered 4578485458 times, a few in the past week. The search bar is your friend. Anyway, I have a 96 2.8 12v and I was running 93 but have been using 89 as of late (poor and extra 5 bucks a fill up = beer) and I have not noticed any difference. I would avoid 87 though, you do have an Audi don't put the same stuff in it that Fords get.

You can put 87 in any car. All it does is decrease HP and Mileage. The reason why your car has a Knock sensor is for that reason. Now if your knock sensor is bad then your fucked more ways then one.

My Girlfriends Dad and I checked many many places he is a smart man(chief of medicine) And he owns a 04 1.8T with 90K on the clock runs 87 always has and always will. I dont know why when he is that rich but ohhh well.
