Sorry to hear about it. I'm confused about the part where you are happy about the angel eyes being ok though. I'm failing to see the positive side of that.

TDDRILL- WTF is wrong with you? Just because a tech is doing a side job/under the table doesnt mean he shouldnt take care in driving a customer's car. audi lade is right to be upset. Dont act like you wouldnt be if you were in the same situation. I would hardly see it as a "favor" unless he was doing it for free. Tech's can get **** done in no time with their eyes closed. They CRAVE sidework. If anything, audi lade was doing HIM a favor.

 

Oh please! He is getting the work done for him at a discount and he is the one doing the favor? Give me a break. If you get discounted work, he is doing you a favor. Then he was delivering it as a favor too. I don't know what kind of mechanics you guys use, but I have to go get my own damn car and arrange rides to go get it and I pay full price (not at a dealership of course) etc. So if you know a guy, then good, but if it wasn't a favor, then you would have spent thousands of dollars at the dealership to have it done. The price for a full kit of parts is like $500 alone.

Yo I didn't say don't be upset about the car or that the guy shouldn't have crashed it. Justdon't act like you could give a crap about that guy and his well being and all you care about is the car. He said the guys head smashed the front window but didn't even say if the guy was ok. If his head smashed the window, its no small accident. He didn't scrape his frickin elbow, he broke glass with his head and/or face. Who cares about your BMW angel eyes, your overpriced front bumper, or the rest of your riced out Audi in that situation. How about some human decency around here instead of everyone acting like they are bumping uglys with there super rad car every night.

Yes, he is doing the tech a favor by throwing money at him for doingtie rods. Its abouta20 min job for a tech, and he's probably getting at least $50 to do it on the side. If someone is going to pay you $50 for 20 mins. of your time, who is doing who the favor? Youve obviously never replaced tie rods. A monkey could do it.

I've been wondering what the heck is wrong with you since youve joined based on these patterns I see:

You compare apples to oranges.
You are overly biased in 99% of everything you say and appear to be very closed minded.
You view your personal experiences as "the norm" when trying to help other people.

Not trying to get REAL personal, Im sure your cool in person, but I gotta speak up when I see people getting treated like crap for no reason.

 

Oops, I was reading Control Arms, not Tie Rod Ends. I've done both myself, thanks. Indeed TREs are pretty easy (and pretty cheap). I'm not going to keep debating who is doing who a favor here, I just think if you aren't paying full price . . . You think whatever you want.


Not sure how to respond on the patterns. You haven't given any examples and I don't know what you are talking about. Perhaps you are basing it off of this post and the one other one I did yesterday that you felt like arguing with me on. Either way, I try to post on subjects I am familiar with ie things that I have worked on myself etc. The rest of that is a bit offensive I think especially since I don't believe you have actually gone through and read many of my past posts.

He should totally be held accountable. Either insurance or cash, wouldn't matter to me. Otherwise it's like if I agree to pet sit for you one weekend and kill all of your goldfish, but say, "Chill, man, I was doing YOU a ******* favor."

 

if anyone ever asked me to "pet sit" their goldfish for two days I would do the world a favor and get rid of all of them

What about if the mechanic had your goldfish in the backseat when he wrecked your car??
